Chevron Bangladesh

Chevron is the single largest producer of natural gas in Bangladesh, supplying around 50 percent of the country's natural gas consumption. It has increased production ten-fold in the last decade to meet the country’s ever increasing demand for natural gas. It is also the country’s largest foreign investor, with investments to date exceeding $1.2 billion and providing employment to about 3,000 Bangladeshis. Chevron
has been recognized as the highest corporate tax payer in Bangladesh for the 2009-2010 fiscal year.
Chevron produces natural gas and condensate from three fields in the northeast of the country. Of these, Bibiyana is currently the largest producing field in Bangladesh, constituting 35 percent of the country’s total production. Plans to further expand production from the Bibiyana field were approved in 2012.
